Mary Elizabeth “Libby” Walker

Memorial services for Mary Elizabeth “Libby” Walker, 93, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at the First Baptist Church, Cairo, GA.  Rev. Chris Allen will officiate.  Mrs. Walker passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at Magnolia Place in Cairo, GA.

Ms. Walker was born on May 10, 1929, in Jackson, AL to the late Sidney Melton Singley and Lena Doggett Singley.  She married the late Thomas L. Walker in December 1987.  She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church and served many years in the Pilot Club, Joy Club, Jail Ministry and was a Grady General Ladies Auxiliary Volunteer.

Survived by her son, Michael Finch (Annette) of Lafayette, LA; her step sons, Tommy Walker (Julie) of Albany, GA; Steve Walker of Cairo, GA; the following grandchildren: Jeremy Finch (Aly) of Lafayette, LA; Lena Martinez (Jeff) of Birmingham, AL; Daniel Finch (Jeanie Sue) of Lafayette, LA; Charisha Cooper (Clay) of Pelham, GA; Marie McLendon (Blake) of Thomasville, GA; daughters of the late Lynn Allday Waldron, Sydney Pendleton (Lee) of Coolidge, GA and Madison Waldron of Pelham, GA; the following step grandchildren: Ashley Duncan (Brandon) of Raleigh, NC; Drew Walker (Jenna) of Richmond Hill, GA; Erin Thaggard (Zach) of Leesburg, GA; Matt Walker (Carissa) of Cairo, GA; Thomas Walker (Leah) of Valdosta, GA; along with a host of great grandchildren, nieces, and great nieces/nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents Sidney and Lena Singley, husband Thomas L. Walker, daughter Cindy Allday and granddaughter Lynn Allday Waldron, brother Nelson Singley, and a sister Vera Nell Singley.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory to Grady General Ladies Auxiliary/Volunteers, 1155 5th St. SE, Cairo, GA 39828.

The family will receive friends in the Sanctuary of the First Baptist Church on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
