Funeral services for Mary Eloise Perkins, 82, of Whigham, GA, are at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, July 31, 2016, at Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church, Climax, GA. Elder Thad Marshall will officiate. Interment will be in Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Perkins passed away at her home in Decatur County, GA, on Friday, July 29, 2016.
Active pallbearers will be Jerry Jones, Mike Cox, Casey Cliett, Kenny Stavely, Randy Moore, Emory Moore, Bob Sloan and Steven Perkins.
Mrs. Perkins was born on August 3, 1933, in Madison, FL, to the late Alvin Poppell and Ila Hancock Poppell. On January 21, 1953, she married Melton Lafayette Perkins, who preceded her in death on March 14, 2015. She was a homemaker and a devoted member of Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include: son and daughter-in-law, Steve L. and Cheryl Perkins of Whigham, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Sheryl and Darrell Cliett of Cairo, GA, Helen and Jimmy Cox of Climax, GA, Joy Perkins of Bogart, GA, Kim and Tim Ezell of Climax, GA; grandchildren and spouses, Casey and Jennifer Cliett of Cairo, GA, Karrie Cliett of Cairo, GA, Krista and Paul Hinchey of Nashville, TN, Michael and Christina Cox of Columbus, GA, April Perkins of Whigham, GA, Steven Perkins of Whigham, GA; great-grandchildren, Madison Cliett, Mallorie Cliett, both of Cairo, GA, Adelaine Hinchey of Nashville, TN; brother, Eugene Poppell of Whigham, GA; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; son, Michael Melton Perkins; sister, Shirley Sangster; and brothers, Edwin Poppell, Laverne Poppell.
