Funeral services for Mary George Godwin Greene, 93, of Cairo, GA, are at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, January 21, 2023, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, GA. Rev. Robert Crapps will officiate. Services will conclude at the chapel. Interment will be in Providence Community Cemetery, Whigham, GA. Mrs. Greene passed away at Langdale Place, Valdosta, GA, on Wednesday, January 18, 2023.
Active pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Mrs. Greene was born on July 2, 1929, in Camilla, GA, to the late George Godwin and Hattie Burnum Godwin. On December 4, 1959, she married Herbert Greene, who preceded her in death on November 13, 1997. She was a homemaker and a member of Providence Baptist Church.
Survivors include: her children, Mickey Green (Kathy) of Whigham, GA, Rodney Faircloth (Diane) of Cairo, GA, Jimmy Green (Karen) of Reno, GA, Brenda Herrington (Dennis) of Valdosta, GA, Stanley Greene (Lisa) of Valdosta, GA; daughters-in-law, Kathy Green of Pelham, GA, Sara Green of Carrabelle, FL; grandchildren, Nick Green (Lisa), Leah Trim, Jonathan Green (Christy), Kenneth Green (Shelly), Stacey Faircloth (Michelle), Shawn Faircloth, Dale Grant, Kelly Fowler (Ryan), Blaire Green, Tanner Herrington (Cailee), Gatlin Herrington, Inde Herrington, Amanda Carter (Chad), Kristin Patterson (Dustin); 14 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Sydney Jones of Cairo, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Herbert Greene; sons, Lanny Green, Dennis Green; great-granddaughter, Makayla Green; brothers, Kelso Godwin, Dwight Godwin; sisters, Doris Godwin, Curtis Hammond, Christine Bishop, Irene Brock.
