Melissa Lynn McGee, 49, of Cairo, GA, passed away at Emory Hospital in Atlanta, GA, on Tuesday, November 22, 2016. A memorial service will be held at a future date.

Ms. McGee was born on February 26, 1967, in Adel, GA, to the late Jack Edmond McGee and Carolyn Simmons McGee, who survives. She worked with the Grady Country Board of Education.

Survivors include: daughter, Artemis Des Rosiers of Cairo, GA; mother, Carolyn Simmons McGee of Cairo, GA; sister, Cindy Maxwell of Cairo, GA; life-partner, Robin Reister of Cairo, GA; step-children, Laura Wertenberger of Cairo, GA, Reuben Reister of Cairo, GA; nieces, Marie Maxwell, Ashley Maxwell, both of Cairo, GA; and her canine friends, Java and Gracie.

She was preceded in death by her father and a brother-in-law, Roland Maxwell.
