Merle Lee Crew Barnes

Graveside funeral services for Merle Lee Crew Barnes, 87, of Thomasville, GA, are at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 20, 2022, in the Cairo Cemetery, Cairo, GA.  Rev. Robbie Jenkins will officiate.  Mrs. Barnes passed away at her home on Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022.

Mrs. Barnes was born on July 22, 1934, in Ochlocknee, GA, to the late Lewis Crew and Thelma Chastain Crew.  She was married to Leland H. “Snooks” Barnes, Jr., who preceded her in death on August 18, 2012.   She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Thomasville, GA.

Survivors include: her daughter, Sherri Barnes (Randy Ryan) of Boston, GA; and her son, Lee Barnes of Thomasville, GA; granddaughter, Jamie Thornton Faircloth (BJ) of Cairo, GA; grandson, Brad Thornton (Kristin) of Cairo, GA; granddaughter and grandson, Madolyn and Nic Clark, both of Thomasville; great-grandchildren, Dylan, Katie and Trace Faircloth, all of Cairo, GA; brother, Gene Crew (Sara) of Ochlocknee, GA; nephew, Ben Crew of Cairo, GA; niece April Rinker (Jason) of Cairo, GA; son-in-law, Jeff Thornton of Cairo; and extended family.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; daughter, Sheila Barnes Thornton; brother, Charles Crew; and a sister, Nancy Crew.
