Funeral services for Myrtice Pearce Hurst, 78, of Cairo, GA, are at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 2, 2025, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, GA. Rev. Chad Cooper will officiate. Private interment will be in Pine Forest Baptist Church Cemetery, Ochlocknee, GA. Mrs. Hurst passed away at Archbold Memorial Hospital, Thomasville, GA, on Monday, December 30, 2024.
Active pallbearers will be Bryan Scarborough, Derick Bracewell, Michael Leu, Tim Law, Derrick Majors and Shane Hatcher.
Mrs. Hurst was born on September 27, 1946, in Cairo, GA, to the late Ivey Lonza Pearce and Mamie Clyde Hurst Pearce. She was married to James Irvin Hurst, who preceded her in death on September 12, 2016. She was a retired Dietary Specialist with the Mitchell County School System and was a member at Pine Forest Baptist Church.
Survivors include her children, Kim Edwards (Randy) of Doerun, GA, Tracy Hurst (Lisa) of Columbus, GA, Brian Hurst (Jill) of Camilla, GA and Scott Hurst (Miranda) of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Jessica Hoskins (Shawn) of Dothan, AL, Clark Phelps of Blakely, GA, Laci Hoskins (Shel) of Camilla, GA, Jenna Pollock (Brett) of Rapid City, SD, Justin Edwards of Americus, GA, Lindsey Pons (Parker) of Nashville, TN, Bailey Mashburn (Seth) of Fortson, GA, Donovan Hurst (Kaylee) of Locust Grove, GA, Lauryn Hurst (Charles) of Camilla, GA, Jackson Hurst of Camilla, GA and Brittany Cochran (Josh) of Cairo, GA; great-grandchildren, Hunter Hoskins, Grayson Hoskins, Tanner Hoskins, Camp Phelps, Lilli Hoskins, Addi Hoskins and Whitlee Cochran, Elijah Hurst, Adeline McBroom, Bryar and Wrenlee Marshall; sisters-in-law, Dot Pearce of Cairo, GA, Velma Poitevint of Cairo, GA and Martha Pearce of Havana, FL.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and siblings, Frances Sellers, Shirley Gilliard, Johnny Pearce, Albert Pearce, Winford Pearce, Alton Pearce, Leo Pearce, Alvin Pearce, Archester “Chester” Pearce, Randall Pearce and Douglas “Doug” Pearce.
The family will receive friends immediately following the funeral service at the chapel.
