Myrtle Butler Hartley

Graveside funeral services for Myrtle Butler Hartley, 95, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 15, 2017, in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Rev. Steve Wooten will officiate. Mrs. Hartley passed away at Langdale Hospice House, Valdosta, GA, on Tuesday, September 12, 2017.
Mrs. Hartley was born on August 8, 1922, in Quincy, FL, to the late Aaron Butler and Elizabeth Griffin Butler. On July 3, 1940, she married Talmadge A. Hartley, who preceded her in death on January 31, 2005. They were married for 64 years. She was a dedicated mother and homemaker. She was a member of Pine Park Baptist Church.
Survivors include: daughters, Doris Castleberry (Fenton) of Ochlocknee, GA, Louise Turner (Robert) of Athens, GA, Mary Shiver (Robert) of Bonaire, GA; son, Tim Hartley of Pine Park, GA; and grandchildren, Cheryl Hinson (Steve) of Athens, GA, Ken Castleberry (Julie) of Marietta, GA, Glynis Habeck (Bob) of Athens, GA, Bobby Turner (Betsy) of Flowery Branch, GA, Michele Groover of Bonaire, GA, Larry Holley of Bonaire, GA; 8 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Frances Butler of Reno, GA.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; 3 sisters, and 2 brothers.
