Neyland Allen Robinson
March 1, 1932 – November 29, 2020
Neyland Allen Robinson, 88, passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2020. Private graveside funeral services will be on Friday, December 4, 2020, in Woodlawn Cemetery, Whigham, GA. Rev. Christy Bandy will officiate.
He was born on March 1, 1932, in Whigham, Georgia to the late Rufus Hill, Sr., and Martha Vaughn Robinson. He joined the United States Army in 1949. He wrote “I am in the Army now” on a sheet of paper and mailed it to his parents, as he was boarding the train headed to Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Returning from his military service, he began his career at Warner Brothers in Thomasville, and later Moultrie, Georgia.
After dating Alice Ruth Phillips for four years, they married on July 3, 1958. He accepted a job with American Thread Company in 1966 and moved his family to Marion, NC. He worked in nearly every state in the Continental U.S., as well as Mexico and Puerto Rico during his career. After retiring in 1996, he moved back to his beloved home town of Whigham, GA, where he resumed his love of fishing and enjoying Wednesday lunches with local men at “The Cook House.” As his health declined, he moved to Loganville, Georgia to be closer to his children.
He was preceded in death by: his loving wife of 53 years, Alice Phillips Robinson; his five brothers, Rufus Hill, Jr., Joseph Carroll, Wilburn Vaughn, Richard Edwin, and Embree Lynn.
Survivors include: his children, Ronald Robinson (Joy), Leisa Wiggs (Barry); and grandchildren, Emily, Taylor, and Jacob Robinson.
Our wish is that he be remembered most as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He lived his life according to his Christian faith, with a compassion and concern for others.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation be made to: Whigham United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 4, Whigham, GA 39897.
