Patrick Odum “Pat” McCorkle

Funeral services for Patrick “Pat” McCorkle, 80, of Cairo, GA, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 10, 2017, at Pine Park Baptist Church, Cairo, GA. The Rev. Steve Wooten will officiate. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Whigham, GA. Mr. McCorkle passed away at Select Specialty Hospital in Tallahassee, FL, on Friday, September 8, 2017.
Active pallbearers were Charles Carter, Mark Herring, William Herring, David McCorkle, Jamie McCorkle and Larry McCorkle. Honorary pallbearers were Larry Brinkley, Warren Brownlow, Jerry Buffington, Russell Childs, Larry Cone, Bill Cox, Donald Cox, James Kelly, Danny Slaughter, Kenneth Stewart and Jackie Thomas
Mr. McCorkle was born on March 17, 1937 in Whigham, GA to the late R.V. and Etta Godwin McCorkle. On August 27, 1960, he married Pauline Page, who survives. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War with the 1st Armored Division 73rd Artillery Company. Mr. McCorkle was a lifelong farmer who had a passion for caring for animals. He was an active member of Pine Park Baptist Church. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and Papa.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline McCorkle of Cairo, GA; daughter, Patsy Hancock (Steve) of Camilla, GA; grandchildren Hunter Hancock of Valdosta, GA and Chase Hancock of Statesboro, GA; two brothers Earl McCorkle (Myrt) and Larry McCorkle (Sandy) of Cairo, GA and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, R.V. and Etta Godwin McCorkle; and by his brothers, Charles McCorkle, Claude McCorkle, Hal McCorkle, Jack McCorkle and Roland Bo McCorkle.
Memorials may be made in Mr. McCorkle’s memory to the Building Fund, Pine Park Baptist Church, 3783 Pine Park Rd, Cairo, GA 39828.
The family will receive friends at the Church immediately following the service.
