Raymond Floyd Hurst, 79 of Cairo, GA passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2016 in Cairo, GA. A private memorial service is planned.
Mr. Hurst was born on January 28, 1937, in Cairo, GA, to the late Paul Branch Hurst and Floy Miller Hurst. He graduated Cairo High School and then attended Troy College. He served his country in the National Guard. On January 15, 1961, he married Helen Jeanette Hand Hurst, who survives. He was owner of Hurst-U-Store It in Cairo, GA. He served as a Cairo City Councilman. He was a devoted member of First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and taught Sunday School.
Survivors include: his wife of 55 years, Jeanette Hand Hurst of Cairo, GA; daughters, Karen Hurst Patrick (Lee) of Quitman, GA, Sharon Hurst McGoldrick (John) of West Palm Beach, FL; grandchildren, Chase Patrick, Bowen Patrick, both of Quitman, GA, Alexandra McGoldrick, Olivia McGoldrick, both of West Palm Beach, FL; brother-in-law, Ken Ferrell of Valdosta, GA, Gary Hand of Tallahassee, FL; nephews, Scott Ferrell (Toni) of Texas, Daniel Hand of Tallahassee, FL; and a niece Jill Ferrell of Valdosta, GA.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jerry Hurst Ferrell.
