Raymond “Wayne” Johnson
May 31, 1958 – May 4, 2023

Funeral services for Raymond Wayne Johnson, 64, of Whigham, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at El Bethel Baptist Church, Whigham, GA.  Rev. Bob Knight will officiate.  Interment will be in El Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, Whigham, GA.  Mr. Johnson passed away at his home on Thursday, May 4, 2023.

Active pallbearers will be Kenneth Salter, Steve Thomas, Tommy Pyles, Charles Chason, Richard Brown, Trent Brown, Lucas Ladner and Dustin Starling.

Wayne was born on May 31, 1958, in Tallahassee, FL, to the late Carl Raymond Johnson and Sylvia Lacy Johnson, who survives.  On October 19, 1983, he married Marie Womble Johnson, who survives.  They were married for 39 years.  For many years, he worked for Lacy Lumber Company, which was founded by his granddaddy, John Lacy.  Later he worked as a truck driver until his retirement.  He was a devoted member of El Bethel Baptist Church in Whigham.

Survivors include: his wife, Marie Womble Johnson of Whigham, GA; daughters, Nicole Barrett (Andrew) of Cairo, GA, Lacy Johnson Polk (Kyle) of Whigham, GA; grandchildren, McKenna Polk, Gracelyn Marie Polk, Emersyn Polk, Kyle Polk, Jr., all of Whigham, GA, Keegan Barrett, Kinsley Rae Barrett, both of Cairo, GA; his mother, Sylvia Lacy Johnson of Tallahassee, FL; brother, Doug Johnson of Tallahassee, FL; niece, Lacy Boxberger of Columbia, SC; and a nephew, Daniel Hodge of Crawfordville, FL.

He was preceded in death by: his father; and a brother, John Edward Johnson.

The family will receive friends at El Bethel Baptist Church on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
