Renate Gerste Sellars

Funeral services for Renate Gerste Sellars, 94, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at Pine Level Baptist Church, Cairo, GA.  Rev. Jim Weaver will officiate.  Services will conclude at the church.  Private interment will be in Pine Level Baptist Church Cemetery, Cairo, GA.  Mrs. Sellars passed away at Early Memorial Nursing Home in Blakely, GA, on Saturday, December 30, 2023.

Mrs. Sellars was born on May 12, 1929, in Berlin, Germany to the late Gehart Gerste and   Elfridel Hartman Gerste.  In 1954, she married Santa Jim Sellars, who preceded her in death on October 31, 2008.  Renate retired from the Belk-Hudson Company in Cairo.    She was a member of Pine Level Baptist Church in Cairo.

Survivors include: her son, Frank Sellers (Stephanie) of Columbia, AL; grandchildren, Darla Campbell (Matt), Jackie Houston (Ronnie), Diedra Wicker (Ben), Ashley Kilow, and Frankie Sellars; and great-grandchildren, Jacquelyn Smoak, Darrus Harrell, Delaney Peacock, Dylan Braswell, Blue Wicker, Owen Kennedy, Ellaine Kilow.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; great-grandson, Chason Kennedy; and a sister.

The family will receive friends at Pine Level Baptist Church Fellowship Hall on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
