Graveside funeral services for Richard Eldon Adams, 69, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 5, 2017, in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA with Military Honors. Rev. Charles Parker will officiate. Mr. Adams passed away at his home in Grady County, GA, on Tuesday, May 2, 2017.
Honorary pallbearers will be Daryl Jones, Heath Jones, Nick Green, P. J. Green, Marc Lee, Pete Ezell, Tim Adams and George Serapin.
Mr. Adams was born on July 28, 1947, in Cairo, GA, to the late Thomas Woodrow Adams and Jahaza Owens Adams. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. On July 13, 1967, he married Janell Lee Adams, who survives. He worked in the logging industry until his retirement. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a loving family man and adored his grandchildren.
Survivors include: his wife of 49 years, Janell Lee Adams of Cairo, GA; daughter, Delann Connell (Johnny) of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Erin Connell of Cairo, GA, Beau Connell of Cairo, GA; brother, Shelton W. Adams (Lorrie) of Havana, FL; sister, Shirley A. Walden of Whigham, GA; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Gene and Esther Jones of Whigham, GA, Vic and Helen Spatafora of Reno, GA, Mickey and Kathy Green of Whigham, GA, Joe and Sharon Lee of Freeport, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Linda Sue Adams.
