Funeral services for Robert Lee “Bobby” Hancock, 88, of Cairo, GA, are on Wednesday, November 4, 2020, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, GA. Rev. Chad Cooper will officiate. Services will conclude at the chapel. Private interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Mr. Hancock passed away at his home on Sunday, November 1, 2020.
Active pallbearers will be Chris Hancock, John Jackson, Brandon Hancock, Braydon Glover, Chad Rooks and Chip Wells.
Mr. Hancock was born on March 3, 1932, in Metcalf, GA, to the late Homer Roy Hancock and Rosa Miller Hancock. On May 18, 1974, he married Joyce Walden Hancock, who survives. They were married for over 46 years. Many will remember Bobby as a butcher and market manager at Harvey’s Supermarket. Later he retired as shipping supervisor with Flowerwood Nursery in Cairo. He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Cairo. He was an outdoorsman, deer hunter, bird hunter and fisherman; but his favorite sport and challenge was turkey hunting. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Each one had a special bond with their grandfather, Bobby.
Survivors include: his wife, Joyce Walden Hancock of Cairo, GA; children, Wayne Hancock (Debra) of Cairo, GA, Steve Hancock (Debbie) of Byron, GA, Michael Hancock of Cairo, GA, Gary Hancock (Judey) of Milton, FL, Pam Glover (Stacy) of Whigham, GA; grandchildren, Heather Minniece (Thomas) of Tuscaloosa, AL, John Jackson (Brandi) of Cairo, GA, Chris Hancock (Cindy) of Reynolds, GA, Erica Rooks (Chad) of Byron, GA, Brandon Hancock (Jessica) of Whigham, GA, Ashley Hancock of Cairo, GA, Jade O’Berry (Josh) of Milton, FL, Lexi Glover, Braydon Glover, Chloe Glover, all of Whigham, GA; Cierra Pyles (Chris) of Barnesville, GA, Draiha Combs of Bainbridge, GA; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Barrineau (Wendell) of Whigham, GA, Janice Mobley of Whigham, GA; sisters-in-law, Beth Hancock of Cairo, GA, Jackie Hancock of Tallahassee, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Roy Hancock, Dee Hancock; and a sister, Kathy Scott.
