Funeral services for Ruby Mae Horton Holley, 94, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, GA. Rev. Sarah Ulm will officiate. Services will conclude in the chapel. Private interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Mrs. Holley passed away at Pelham Parkway Nursing Home in Pelham, GA, on Sunday, May 9, 2021.
Mrs. Holley was born on June 14, 1926, in Cairo, GA, to the late Everett H. Horton and Edna James Horton. On August 15, 1942, she married Clarence Edward “Ed” Holley, who preceded her in death on March 26, 1976. Later, Ruby married Ray Riffle, who preceded her in death in 2000. When younger, she worked at Bob’s Grocery Store and later was employed with the Grady County Board of Education as a paraprofessional at Southside Elementary School. She was a devoted member of Eastside Baptist Church in Cairo and the Quilting Circle at the church. Ruby was an avid fisherwoman, loved traveling and visited 45 out of 50 states. She loved gardening and was well-known for her 13-layer chocolate cakes.
Survivors include: her son and daughter-in-law, Clarence Wendell and Betsy Holley of Gray, GA; grandchildren, Michele Groover, Larry Holley, both of Warner Robins, GA, Sarah Ulm, Christine Giles (Chai), both of Gray, GA; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Groover, Mitchel Groover, Colby Holley, all of Warner Robins, GA, Ben Giles, Avery, Giles, Sidney Giles, all of Gray, GA; sister, Marie Horton Andrews of Pelham, GA; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her first husband, Ed Holley; her second husband, Ray Riffle; son, Wallace Edward Holley; sister, Evelyn Horton McQuien; and a brother, James Horton.
