Funeral services for Samuel Lawrence “Sam” Singletary, 70, of Whigham, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 2, 2017, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, GA. Brother Ron Evans and Rev. Max Kelly, Jr. will officiate. Interment with Military Honors will be in El Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, Whigham, GA. Mr. Singletary passed away at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in Tallahassee, FL, on Wednesday, August 30, 2017.
Active pallbearers will be John Walton, Jeffrey Joyner, Jimmy Scarbrough, Donald Evans, Rusty Evans and Max Kelly. Honorary pallbearers will be Earl Prince, Keith Sandefur, Jr., Braxton Harrell and Chad Gordon.
Mr. Singletary was born on August 6, 1947, in Cairo, GA, to the late John Lawrence Singletary and Inez Chason Singletary. He served his country in the Unites States Air Force. On November 30, 1979, he married Sherry Hudson Singletary, who survives. He retired as an investigator with the Grady County Sheriff’s Office. He was a member of El Bethel Baptist Church in Whigham, GA
Survivors include: his wife of 37 years, Sherry Hudson Singletary of Whigham, GA; sons, Troy Singletary (Pamela) of Whigham, GA, Eric Singletary (Windy) of Whigham, GA, Joel Singletary (Emily) of Whigham, GA; grandchildren, Garrett Harrell (Elizabeth) of Whigham, GA, Kristian Ponder of Leesburg, GA, Samuel Singletary of Whigham, GA, Tristen Singletary of Whigham, GA, Dalton Singletary of Thomasville, GA, Taylor Singletary of Whigham, GA, Morgan Singletary of Whigham, GA, Alayna Singletary of Whigham, GA, Anderson Joel “AJ” Singletary of Whigham, GA; great-grandchildren, Isabella Dockery, Realynn Dockery, both of Leesburg, GA; and a sister, Patricia Ann Richardson of Fort Gaines, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will receive friends at his home in Whigham, on Friday, September 1, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
