Funeral services for Sue Collins Baggett Askew Thompson, 87, of Cairo, GA, are at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Eastside Baptist Church, Cairo, GA. Rev. Matt Vickers and Rev. Douglas Halstead will officiate. Interment will be in Providence Community Cemetery, Whigham, GA. Mrs. Askew Thompson passed away at Magnolia Place, Cairo, GA, on Saturday, January 4, 2025.
Active pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons.
Born on June 29, 1937, in Cairo, GA, she was a daughter of the late Oscar Aaron Collins and Janie Mavis Pinson Collins. On February 6, 2010, she married Dewey Arnold Thompson, who survives. She was a retired registered nurse and a member of Eastside Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Dewey Arnold Thompson of Cairo, GA; children, Mark Baggett (Karen) of Forston, GA, Carol Cunningham (Chris) of Pensacola, FL, John Baggett (Cindy) of Cairo, GA and Connie Walker (Glenn) of Sanderson, FL; grandchildren, Christina Wiginton (Kyle) of Atlanta, GA, Megan Shaukat (Jamal) of Columbus, GA, Daniel Cunningham (Katie) of Jeffersonville, Indiana, Trenton Cunningham (Miranda) of Pensacola, FL, Lacey Hodges (Justin) of Glen St. Mary, FL, Mica Baggett of Newport Beach, CA; Morgan Rhoden and Taylor Askew, both of Thomasville, GA; great-grandchildren, Christopher Hodges, Grady Hodges and Braelynn Hodges, all of Glen St. Mary, FL, Evan Wiginton and Ellis Wiginton, both of Atlanta, GA, Ali Blackburn, Addie Shaukat and Kalev Shaukat, all of Columbus, GA; siblings, Larry Collins (Betty) of Enterprise, AL and Mary Rouse of Ozark, AL; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Eugene “Boot” Baggett and Dr. Bradley Askew; granddaughter, Fehran Baggett; sisters, Loreatha C. Johnson and Lugene C. Sorrell.
