Susan Burroughs Hancock

Susan Burroughs Hancock, 75, of Cairo, GA, passed away at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, GA, on Friday, March 12, 2021.
Mrs. Hancock was born on March 7, 1946, in Thomasville, GA, to the late Norman Everett Burroughs and Lois Chastain Burroughs. On September 27, 1964, she married John Hancock, who survives. They were married for 56 years. Her loving family called her “Suesue.” She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Cairo. She was a model of prayer, kindness, and grace for all. Her friends and family remember her as an encourager who lived her life as a daily witness for Christ. She loved to cook and bake, and you could often find a crowd gathered around Suesue’s kitchen table.
Survivors include: her husband, John Hancock of Cairo, GA; daughters, Kaye Lamar (Clay) of Sale City, GA, April Reckford (David) of Cairo, GA; and grandchildren, Kyli Lamar of Cairo, GA, Madison Hill (Kyle) of Valdosta, GA, Clayton Lamar of Sale City, GA, Cuy Lamar of Sale City, GA, Kenneth Everett Reckford of Cairo, GA, Ada Reckford of Cairo, GA.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Everett and Lois Burroughs; sister, Pete Rentz; and a nephew, Hunter Hancock.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at the First Baptist Church of Cairo in the Fellowship Hall. A time to fellowship and share memories with the family will follow.
