Thomas Maxwell Gainey, Jr., 61, of Deltona, FL, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 in Dawson, GA. A private gathering was held by the family.

Tommy was born on May 29, 1955, in Cairo, GA, to Thomas M. Gainey, Sr. and Elizabeth Dixon Gainey. On August 16, 1980, he married his wife, Lynn. Tommy was an avid outdoorsman and lifelong horticulturalist. Cultivating plants was his profession but growing and nurturing his family was his passion.

Survivors include: his wife, Lynn Butler Gainey of Deltona, FL; sons, Jason Lewis (Brandi) of Thomasville, GA, Cole Gainey (Heather) of Leesburg, GA; daughter, Aubrey Gainey of Deltona, FL; grandchildren, Hannah Lewis of Thomasville, GA, Erin Lewis of Thomasville, GA; parents, Mack and Liz Gainey of Cairo, GA; sister, Teresa VanLandingham (Richard) of Cairo, GA; mother-in-law, Jean Butler of Deltona, FL; nephews, Chris VanLandingham (Elena) of Tallahassee, FL, Trace Gainey of Tampa, FL; and niece, Mary Beth Sharp (Kevin) of Peachtree Corners, GA.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Tracy Gainey.
