Timothy Lynn “Tim” Schafer
March 13, 1953 – August 20, 2024

Funeral services for Timothy Lynn “Tim” Schafer, 71, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 23, 2024, at Midway Baptist Church, Cairo, GA.  Pastor Marc Walters and Pastor Ken Cloud will officiate.  Interment will be in Midway Baptist Church Cemetery.  Mr. Schafer passed away at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, GA, on Tuesday, August 20, 2024.

Active pallbearers will be Jake Bailey, Randy Holton, Mac Rosencrantz, Jerry Harrell, Jason Knight, Terry Prince, Homer Sigler, Jr., Sam Kines and Tim Kines.

Mr. Schafer was born on March 13, 1953, in Cairo, GA, to the late W.T. Schafer and Mary Ellen Walden Schafer.  He served his country in the United States Army.  On November 20, 1982, he married Betty Brinson Schafer, who survives.  They were married for over 41 years. Tim was a professional lifetime logger and owner of Tim Schafer Logging.  He was a devoted member of Midway Baptist Church in Cairo.

Survivors include: his loving wife, Betty Schafer of Cairo, GA; children, Jason Schafer (Eddie) of Corryton, TN, Amber Childs (Steven) of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Fallyn Schafer of Cairo, GA, Baylee Schafer of Cairo, GA, Asher Childs of Cairo, GA; brothers, Johnny Schafer of Cairo, GA, Mark Schafer of Cairo, GA; and a host of extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Christopher Schafer.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Schafer’s memory to: Midway Baptist Church, 2389 GA HWY 93 S, Cairo, GA 39828.

The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service.
