Funeral Services for Verna Mae Bryant Barrett, 71, of Cairo, Georgia, are at 3:00 p. m., Sunday, February 25, 2018, at Cairo Church of God. Pastor DeWayne Atkinson will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Cairo. Mrs. Barrett passed away at her home in Cairo, GA, on Thursday, February 22, 2018.
Active Pallbearers will be Ronnie Jackson, Jimmy Jackson, Zane Mirick, Tim Fuller, Darrell Cliett, and Andy Stewart.
Mrs. Barrett was born in Cairo, GA, on June 29, 1946, to the late J. L. Bryant and Effie Welch Bryant. She worked for many years at the Town House, then at Mr. Chick’s, and enjoyed her work and customers at both restaurants. She has served as church secretary of Cairo Church of God for about 20 years, where she was involved in many of the church’s outreach ministries, and was outstanding in fund raising for youth ministries, Women’s Ministries, etc., in addition to church office work. She was a very faithful member of Cairo Church of God and loved her church and the Lord greatly.
Survivors include: her sister, Nettie Sheffield (Gene) of Cairo, GA; nephews, Ronnie Jackson (Gail) of Patterson, LA, Jimmy Jackson (Debbie) of Bowling Green, KY, Deborah Jackson of Greenwood, FL; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; sister, Mildred Jackson Humphries; niece, Debbie Jackson; and nephews, Freddie Lee-Roy Jackson, Henry Lee “Sonny” Jackson.

The family will receive friends at the Cairo Church of God on Sunday, February 25, 2018, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
