William Francis McRory

Memorial services for William F. McRory, 90, of Tallahassee, FL, are at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 14, 2016, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, GA. Rev. Ron McCaskill will officiate. Services will conclude at the chapel. Interment with military honors will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, DC, at a later date. Mr. McRory passed away at Legacy Village at Plantation Manor in Thomasville, GA, on Thursday afternoon, December 8, 2016.
Mr. McRory was born on April 27, 1926, in Interlachen, FL, to the late Walter Green McRory and Effie Lee Gray. He served his country in the United States Navy. On June 30, 1954, he married Elizabeth Ballou McRory, who preceded him in death on April 10, 2014. His career as a diplomat with the U.S. State Department allowed him and his wife to travel extensively and experience life living abroad. His posts included Yucatan, Israel, Spain, Japan and Taiwan. Upon retirement, he and his wife settled in Tallahassee, Florida. He was of the Episcopalian faith.
Survivors include: son, Andrew William McRory and wife, Anna Christine Caney of Tallahassee, FL; grandchildren, Joseph McRory, Michael McRory, Allison Caney, Catherine Caney, all of Tallahassee, FL; and a sister-in-law, Helen McRory of Tallahassee, FL.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife; and his siblings, Hilda Cantini, Foy Godwin, Ruby Joiner, Jack McRory, Wayne McRory, Eddie Shoemaker.
The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 14, 2016, immediately following the memorial service.
