William Robert Blakeney, Jr.
September 28, 1921 – July 17, 2020  

Graveside funeral services for William Robert Blakeney, Jr., 98, of Columbus, GA, will be in Resthaven Garden of Memory in Decatur, GA.  Rev. Randy Bishop will officiate.  Mr. Blakeney passed away at his daughter’s home in Grady County, GA, on Friday, July 17, 2020.

Mr. Blakeney was born on September 28, 1921, in Little Rock, AR, to the late William Robert Blakeney and Ahmalee Kime Blakeney.  He served his country in the Army Air Corp.  On November 27, 1946, he married, Edna Lucy Mordic Blakeney, who preceded him in death on April 13, 1986. He was a heavy truck service engineer with the Ford Motor Company.  He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include: his children, Sherrill Morgan (Wayne) of Cairo, GA, William Robert Blakeney, III of Gainesville, GA; grandchildren, Travis Dekle (Kelley) of Athens, GA, Brian Dekle (Katelyn) of Cairo, GA; great-grandchild, Butler Dekle of Athens, GA; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; wife; daughter, Judy Beth Blakeney; sisters, Nora Rae, Nell Marie Fluharty, Irene Smith, Willa Ann Ridings; and a brother, Gene Hogshead.
