Funeral services for William Wallace Hancock, 84, of Whigham, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 22, 2020, at Whigham Baptist Church, Whigham, GA. Rev. Kerry Dinkins will officiate. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Whigham, GA. Mr. Hancock passed away at his home in Whigham, GA, on Saturday, January 18, 2020.
Active pallbearers will be Jason Vinson, Jeffery Collins, Steve Ulmer, Tim Lindsay, Chris Sheffield and Keith Larson. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Wood, Pat Pollock, Al McDearmid, W. A. Harrell, Al Akridge, Steve Akridge, Joel Singletary, Steve Clark, Jim Bragdon, Mitch Curtis, Tommy Gainous, Wayne Redden, Bruce Womble, Russell Register, Jimmy Scarbrough, Paul Cromer, A.D. Landrum, Corey Corker, Allen Kalfus, Randy Merritt, Dwight Patten and Eddie Boone.
Mr. Hancock was born on October 12, 1935, in Cairo, GA, to the late William Groover Hancock and Essie Tilley Hancock. On August 9, 1954, he married Gwendolyn Jones Hancock, who preceded him in death on February 18, 2016. He was a long-time law enforcement employee. Wallace was employed with Leon County Sheriff’s Department for 27 years and more recently with Plantation Security until his retirement. He was a member of the Whigham Baptist Church.
Survivors include: son, Kevin Hancock (Faye) of Whigham, GA; daughter, Amy Gordon (Bill) of Whigham, GA; grandchildren, Christy Winston (John) of Columbia, MO, Blake Hancock (Jessica) of Hartwell, GA, Chad Gordon (Megan) of Whigham, GA; great-grandchildren, Marshall Winston, Elijah Winston, Emma Winston, all of Columbia, MO, Georgia Hancock of Hartwell, GA; sisters, Gail Ulmer of Whigham, GA, Sue Collins of Cairo, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife; sister, Barbara Lindsey; and a brother, Mike Hancock.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 21, 2020, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
